ELLIOTT ERWITT, 100 FOTOGRAFIE – MUSEO DIOCESANO, MILAN

From 27th of May to 16th of October 2022, the Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini in Milan hosts a retrospective dedicated to Elliott Erwitt, curated by Biba Giacchetti, organized by Museo Diocesano in collaboration with SudEst57, with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan.

The exhibition presents one hundred of his most famous shots, both in black and white and in color.

“Elliott and I – says Biba Giacchetti – greet with enthusiasm this retrospective that the Museo Diocesano has dedicated to him. Elliott is very attached to Milan, the city where he spent his childhood until his departure for the United States due to racial laws. The selection of the images on display, many of which never exhibited in Milan, was curated by me in close collaboration with Elliott, like every project that concerns him “.

“I am sure – concludes Biba Giacchetti – that this selection of his most famous icons alongside unedited images in Milan, will generate a new curiosity, which will add to the love that has always accompanied the shots of this great photographer”.

The exhibition itinerary traces the entire career of the American author and offers a glimpse of the history and customs of the twentieth century, through his typical irony, pervaded by a surreal and romantic streak, which has identified him as the photographer of human comedy.
