Steve McCurry Icons, Palazzo Sarcinelli, Conegliano

The Icons exhibition by our photographer Steve McCurry has been arousing the interest of the general public for the past 5 years. Many cities have been touched since his start and for the first time Steve McCurry’s photographs will touch a stop in Veneto. Palazzo Sarcinelli, in Conegliano, will host the retrospective exhibition by Steve McCurry from October 6th 2021, with a selection of more than 100 shots.

Organized in collaboration with Artika and Palazzo Sarcinelli, Biba Giacchetti selected her most iconic photographs for Icons together with Steve McCurry. The same ones that in forty years of career marked the memory of the public.

In fact, the Icons exhibition is composed by his photographs from the most important works. From the first of his books, the Imperial Railway, the first of his icons: the locomotive in front of the Taj Mahal, a piece of history, as well as a wonderful photograph, of an abandoned railway line.

From 1984, however, comes the photo of the meeting in a refugee camp near Peshawar, with the girl who changed Steve McCurry’s life forever: Sharbat Gula was only a girl of about 12 at the time of the shot which went around the world, thanks to his intense gaze and the intuition of the photographer.
