Exhibition Overview
Icons features 100 shots representing the best of the vast production of the famous American photographer Steve McCurry, to offer visitors a symbolic journey in the complex universe of experiences and emotions that characterizes his shots.
The exhibition offers the most famous photos taken during McCurry's long career spanning over thirty years. From his travels in India and Afghanistan to the iconic image of Sharbat Gula, the girl photographed by McCurry in the Peshawar refugee camp in Pakistan, which has become an absolute icon of world photography.
With his photos, the American artist puts us in contact with the most distant ethnic groups and with the most disparate social conditions, highlighting a human condition made up of universal feelings and and documenting both human struggles and joy. Looking at his photos it is possible to cross the borders and know closely a world that is destined to great changes.
The exhibition begins with an extraordinary series of portraits and it develops among images of war and poetry, suffering and joy, amazement and irony.
