After meeting Steve McCurry last September, Campobasso now hosts his most famous retrospective: Steve McCurry Icons, with his 130 most important photographs of his 40 years long career.
The exhibition begins with a long series of portraits, faces which Steve McCurry loves capturing all over the world: children from Afghanistan, women in the southeast Asia, with their showy jewels, or young men from Ethiopia. The series has been extended, in comparison with the previous venues, with new photos from Mongolia or Papua New Guinea. The visitors then find the images about the destruction because of the Gulf War and of 9/11, then the dreamy and aquatic landscape of Burma, and finally the most important pictures from India and his absolute icon, Sharbat Gula.
